(Li2CO3) A source of lithium oxide, it is used to lower coefficients of expansion and contraction in glazes, as an additional fluxing agent and as a stoneware flux.
It can change color responses and create special effects such as halos, breaking glazes, and salt glazes effects. Because of the low expansion of Li2O, high lithium glazes tend to shiver.
