Learn to sculpt an animal of your choice in a fun 8 week class for beginning students.  Adult students will learn in a supportive small class setting with instruction from our teaching artist, Ron Wilson.  You’ll learn to create a realistic portrait of an animal in cone 6 porcelain.  Your work will be fired and finished with underglazes and wax to enhance the surface.

Ron Wilson is the owner of Roadrunner Ceramics, and has been doing pottery for a decade.  A native San Antonian, Ron has studied portrait sculpture at Southwest School of Art and with Alicia Ponzio at Coppini Academy, and animal sculpture with Ariel Bowman.  He currently throws functional and decorative work, as well as sculpting realistic animal and human subjects.  He really enjoys the process of introducing newcomers to the clay experience.

Your class fee includes underglazes, waxes and firing.  Clay and hand tools will be available for purchase.  You may bring and use your own tools, but clay must be purchased through Roadrunner to avoid kiln mishaps with unknown clay.  This should be an exciting and informative class.
