Learn advanced decorating techniques this summer in a fun 12 week class for intermediate students.  Adult students will learn in a supportive small class setting with instruction from our teaching artist, Jenny Smith.  You’ll learn to make colored porcelain and create agate ware, use hot wax for hydro-abrasion, and explore the ancient decorative  technique of sgraffito.  You should already be comfortable centering clay and throwing small, simple pots on the wheel.

Jenny Smith is an fifteen-year veteran of the San Antonio ceramic scene, with a background in ceramics as well as bronze casting.  A graduate of Kansas City Art Institute with a focus on sculpture, she has sold her work at the juried Clayfest event. Jenny is the General Manager of Roadrunner Ceramics, and a studio artist focusing on fun and functional graphic pottery.

All materials and tools will be available for purchase on your first day of class.  Firing service is included. We’re excited to offer this challenging and enriching class experience.
