Celebrate autumn with an exciting Raku workshop with Scott Stockdale. You’ll learn Scott’s techniques and secrets of clay body selection, burnishing and making terra sig, and then decorate and Raku fire several of your own bisque pieces using a variety of techniques including aluminum foil saggar, soluble salts, organic materials and more. The focus will be on decorating and firing techniques. You’ll receive a detailed video showing how to create 6 pieces prior to the workshop, and you’ll complete them during the weekend.

Scott Stockdale is an artist specializing in primitive firing techniques and the fine art of Raku.  Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by ceremonial tea ware of the Zen Buddhist Masters. Scott is fascinated with ancient cultures and the primitive firing techniques used to create various colors and patterns on the surface of the ware. He holds an MFA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BFA from Appalachian State University. He’s a full time artist and teacher imparting his knowledge on a variety of techniques in alternative firing.

Snacks and drinks are included. This should be a fun and informative workshop.
